In May of 2017, Gerardo Reyes achieved his dream of opening his own coffeeshop in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Gerardo’s inspiration stemmed from a trip he took to Seattle, as well as from his entrepreneurship experience with his brother, Kristhian, and his photography business. His new business, Chikondi Café has a cozy atmosphere featuring handmade woodwork by Gerardo, artwork by local high school art students, as well as Guatemalan handmade accessories. It's the perfect place to catch up with friends, study for school or go on a first date.
The Café’s name, ChikondiCafé, derives from the Zambian word for "love." Likewise, the philosophy behind the name for the shop and behind the coffee is a welcoming environment that sends a message of “love in each cup.” Gerardo brews coffee and tea and creates specialty drinks for customers with passion and careful precision each time. As an avid coffee drinker and active community member, Gerardo hopes to share his passion for coffee with others and create a go-to place for all coffee lovers in the Central Falls area. The Café is quickly becoming a common ground for all, a community staple where people can develop deeper connections.
